On the few (read: one) occasions on which we've been entrusted with the life of another's child we've never thought "Hey, this is so enjoyable, I would pay to do it on a tiny screen." Babies are noisy, and they smell like milk sick and (often) doody. In fact, "it's like a job that you pay to do" is rarely a recipe for gaming success. The notable exception here is Burgertime, and only because being chased by giant eggs and living to tell about it is the most alive you can feel without the use of crystal meth.
Exhibit 7,324 that no one asks us before they decide to make stuff: Casual PC game Babysitting Mania is coming to the DS. You can play it for free right now on the PC, if you want. Or, you could take the precious life-seconds you would spend doing that, put them in a rocket, and shoot it into the sun. The choice is yours.

Former Harmonix shareholders are about to split a pot of $208 million courtesy of current owner MTV Games' parent company Viacom. A recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission states that because "financial results exceed specific contractual targets" that the former shareholders will receive a bonus now and at the end of this year.
Rock Band may not be at Guitar Hero's level of sales yet, but its ninja operation of consistent DLC has paid off heavily (not only in sales, but in keeping gamer mindshare). Even at its initial high retail price, Rock Band has marched to a steady drumbeat and displayed staying power.
For those interested in crunching the numbers of this bonus, Newsweek's Level Up finds a devil down in Georgia in the details for Viacom.

Eight-directional arcade shoot-em-up Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is coming next week to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Store. In addition to customizable characters and four-player co-op (online and offline), the game will support 1080i visuals, according to a press release.
Rocketmen was originally unveiled in April alongside Talisman. The game will come out next Wednesday (Xbox 360) and Thursday (PS3) for 800 MS points / $10. (Important note: We were debating between the current headline and "Rocketmen explode onto XBLA, PSN." In the end, both were deemed equally pun-ful/painful and a coin was tossed.)

It's still a while before Grimm shows up on GameTap this summer, so it's time to get back to checking the weekly updates and seeing what can keep those with ADGD (attention deficit gaming disorder) in check. This week GameTap adds a dragon game, the sequel to one of the better-than-you'd-think games on the service and a random board game.

• I of the Dragon (Windows) - OK, so this dragon game may not be good, but it still scored better than Lair on MetaCritic.
• Shadowgrounds Survivor (Windows) - The first Shadowgrounds is competent, but the sequel is much better. Just a twitch game that does everything simple and right.
• Surakarta (Windows) - A checker-ish game from Java. Time to free your mind and get abstract.

After the break you'll find GameTap's list of free games with new additions bolded for easy reference. Thief: Deadly Shadows joins the list this week to stalk his next victim. The free list now sports 104 games and there are plenty of good ones in there for freeloaders.
